Peloton cycling shoes are designed to fit on all Peloton bikes. They fit on the Peloton Bike, Peloton Tread, and all other spin bikes.
Peloton cycling shoes are designed with 7mm pins to be compatible with all types of pedal systems (Look, SPD-SL, etc). These pins can accommodate almost any type of cleat available; it’s easy to switch between the two provided clamps to accommodate your needs.
To ensure maximum compatibility and convenience for customers, ALL Shoes come with cleats that are compatible with any pedal system on the market.
However, some pedals may require a different snap-in style connector. For example: If you use Look pedals, it is advised to remove the provided Shimano SPD clips prior as they can be difficult/impossible to attach after fitting on Look’s cleats.
How do the Peloton Shoes work?
The Peloton shoes are designed with both a flat sole for when you are off the bike and an additional clip in stiffener that is easily removed when on the bike. It has been specially developed to provide optimal grip when clipping in/out of your pedals yet also be comfortable enough to walk in when not cycling.
The shoes are created using high quality materials so they can be worn for everyday use, not just at the gym. It’s lightweight and has good ventilation to keep your feet cool and dry even when you’re working up a sweat during class!
To secure the shoe to your pedal, there is a strap on both sides of the cleat which allows you to tighten up the upper part of the shoe.
The soles are flat and rigid which makes them fit comfortably with or without cycling shoes. This is great for those who like wearing trainers outside and cycling inside! Also, because the soles are flat, it allows for more foot grip on an indoor trainer; allowing you to push harder during your workouts.
What Kind of Clips Are on Peloton Shoes?
There are two types of clips included on the shoes so you can choose whether to use them or not. If you are using Look style pedals, it is advised to remove the Shimano SPD clips as they can be difficult/impossible to attach after fitting on Look cleats. The Peloton cycling shoe has been specifically designed for this reason – to be compatible with all types of pedal systems.
The first clip is the Shimano SPD clip which allows you to use your shoes on a normal outdoor bike or spin bike. This is great for those who love the outdoors and commute to work/go for training rides outside.
The second, more advanced clip, is known as an SPD-SL clip which is designed for use specifically with the Peloton Bike and Tread. These allow for optimum grip when clipping in/out of your pedals, yet also be comfortable enough to walk in when not cycling.
The Shimano SPD clips are attached underneath the shoes and can be tricky to attach if you have Look style pedals; especially after fitting the cleats. The Peloton cycling shoe has been specifically designed for this reason – to be compatible with all types of pedal systems.
The SPD-SL clips are attached on top of the shoes and provide better grip when clipping in/out, which is great for intense spin classes! These are included by default on your Shoes if you purchase the Peloton Shoes.
How Do I Assemble the Clips?
Both clip types can be attached/removed in seconds without any tools required. To attach the Shimano SPD clips, simply remove them from your cleats and line up with where you would like them to sit on your shoes, ensuring they are facing the correct direction (left or right). Once lined up, simply press them into place.
To attach the SPD-SL clip, first, remove the Shimano cleats from your shoes and replace them with the SPD-SL clips. Simply line up where you would like them to sit on your shoes (ensuring they are facing the correct direction), then push until they click.
Which Clip System is Best for Me?
Both clip systems have their own benefits and can be used interchangeably depending on personal preference. The Shimano SPD clips are a great solution if you have a stationary bike at home or use your Peloton Bike outdoors often. They provide stability when standing to pedal and improve grip when standing up to sprint.
The SPD-SL clip provides an incredible grip when clipping in/out of your pedals during spin class, making it easier to push harder. The clips can be tricky to attach if you have Look style pedals; especially after fitting the cleats. However, the great thing about these shoes is that they are designed with both Shimano and SPD-SL clips, which means you can use both types and switch depending on your preference and bike set-up.
How Do I Attach My Shoes to the Peloton Bike/Tread?
To attach your shoes, first remove existing pedals from your bike. Next, line up the clips on your shoe with the pedal and slide into position. Ensure you have a firm grip of each side of your clip and twist outwards until it locks firmly in place.
We advise that you practice on an indoor trainer or at home before stepping onto your Peloton Bike. Also, remember that the soles of the Peloton Shoes are flat which means they fit comfortably with or without cycling shoes. This is great for those who like wearing trainers outside and cycle inside!
Is Walking in the Peloton Shoe Comfortable?
Most cycling shoes are not designed to be walked in. The soles of the Peloton Shoes however, are flat and rigid like a regular shoe (not curved and stiff like most cycling shoes). This makes them comfortable enough to walk in if required; especially during break times when you’re at home using your Peloton Tread!
Can I Use Peloton Shoes on Other Exercise Equipment?
Yes! The shoes are designed to be used with any indoor bike or exercise machine. They can also be used on your outdoor bike if you would like to wear them outside, then clip into pedals when cycling indoors.
All Peloton Shoes are universal; fit on all Peloton bikes (Bike, Tread & New Tread); as well as compatible with most other exercise bikes and machines. In addition, you can use them outside on your regular bike too.
In order to ensure the correct fit for your Peloton Shoes, please double check that you have ordered the correct size according to the sizing guide!
If you’re still unsure about which clip system is best for you, consider where you will most often use your Peloton Shoes – if it’s indoors on a bike, then the Shimano SPD clips are the perfect solution. If it’s outdoors on an outdoor bike, or you use the Peloton Bike outdoors frequently, then the SPD-SL clips will provide a better environment with which to push harder.
