Are Peloton Shoes Unisex Sizing?

Peloton shoes are unisex sizing. This means that the size of the shoe you would wear if you were a man, will be approximately the same as if you were a woman. 

The unisex sizing does not mean that men and women have the same feet, but that the sizing is generally the same. Peloton shoes come in half sizes as well, for those who need a little extra room or want to make sure their feet don’t slip around too much.

Please note that this sizing chart provides a suitable fit for the majority of customers. If your feet are extremely wide or narrow, then we recommend going 1/2 size larger or smaller.

If you know that your feet are wide, then we recommend going up 1/2 size because Peloton shoes already offer a generous width and the added depth will also make the shoe feel more comfortable. 

If you know that your feet are narrow, then we recommend sticking with your standard size, as this is already the recommended width for that particular shoe.

If you are still unsure, then we recommend going to a local Peloton retailer and trying on the shoes in person!

Where can I find my size?

You can find your size by looking at the label on the inside of the shoe. If it says 10, then you would choose size 10. Or, you can consult the Peloton sizing chart (link above) and use your US size.

Here is an example:

If your shoe says 10, then you would order a US size 10, which is equal to an EU size 41.5. Because Peloton shoes are unisex sizing, that same shoe would work well for both a man and a woman if they were wearing the same US size.

What is the issue with using different sized shoes during my ride?

Having two different shoe sizes for your feet can be uncomfortable during class because one foot will likely slip around more than the other. This excess movement of the foot inside of a shoe that is too large can cause your feet to slide forward and hit the front of the pedals. 

If you have two different sized shoes on, then each time this happens, it causes a loud noise from hitting plastic on plastic.

This excess slippage also means that one foot will get more use than the other which can cause pain, or lead to injuries down the line.

This is why it’s best to go with one size of Peloton shoes. Having two different sized shoes will make your workout more difficult and may even hurt your performance.

What size shoes should I wear with my Peloton Bike?

When riding your Peloton bike, you want to choose a shoe that allows for comfort and gives you the ability to pedal without too much slippage.

Many people prefer to use no shoes, or athletic shoes because of this reason. This can work well if you are wearing a pair of Peloton cycling shorts with a chamois, as it will create a barrier between your foot and the pedal.

However, if you do choose to wear athletic shoes, which not everyone does*, then ensure that they are tight enough so that there is no movement when cycling.

 If your shoe can easily slip off of the pedal while you are pedaling, then you will likely be uncomfortable and the noise of two pedals hitting each other (you with your athletic shoe and the pedal) will make it difficult for you to hear your instructor.

*If using an athletic shoe is your preference, we recommend using a quality pair of shoes that will hug your feet while riding on Peloton’s patented fluid resistance.

If you are unable to go without shoes, then we recommend finding a pair of Peloton cycling shoes that fit snugly on your feet; however, be careful not to get them too tight because this may cause foot cramps during class. 

Another option is wearing two pairs of socks, which can help create a barrier between your feet and the pedal if you are also cycling barefoot.

What is best, socks or no socks?

If at all possible, it’s best to go without shoes on your Peloton bike. Because of our patented fluid resistance, you can still get an amazing workout even when not wearing shoes; however, some types of footwear work better than others.

We understand that going barefoot may not be possible, as you may have already gotten a foot blister from your first ride and don’t want to deal with the pain of getting another. 

In this case, we recommend wearing thin socks that won’t bunch up or slip around inside of your shoes. This creates a barrier between your feet and the pedals so you can pedal comfortably without worrying about your shoes hitting the front of the pedals.

If you are wearing athletic shoes, ensure that they fit tightly enough that there is no movement when cycling. If your shoe can easily slip off of the pedal while you are pedaling, then it will likely be uncomfortable to ride with all the noise of two pedals hitting each other.

At this time, we do not offer any specific type of socks to be worn on Peloton bikes; however, we have some recommendations for what types of socks you can wear: Thin, cotton socks (basically any non-cotton sock) Make sure they fit is tight enough that there is no movement when cycling Athletic, toe-sock style, with or without padding.
